Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

When you first open the app, you'll be taken straight to adding your child's profile — no PIN needed yet, since there's nothing to protect on a brand new install. From there, a grown-up can add this week's spelling words from the "Add spelling list" card on the Home screen.

What is the parent PIN for?

The PIN protects the "Grown-ups" areas of the app — Settings, adding or editing spelling lists, and setting up rewards — so your child can't accidentally (or intentionally!) change their own word list or reward settings. You'll be asked to set a PIN the first time you try to access one of those areas.

I forgot my PIN. What do I do?

On the PIN entry screen, look for a "Forgot PIN?" option. If you've enabled Face ID as a backup in Settings, you can use that to reset it. Otherwise, follow the on-screen recovery steps.

What's the difference between Practice and Test mode?

Practice mode lets your child try each word as many times as they like, with hints available along the way. Test mode is the real assessment — it records a grade for the day, and hints are off by default (though you can turn them on for Test mode too, in Settings, if you'd like).

How do rewards work?

From the "Set a weekly prize" card, a grown-up can set a reward for each day of the week plus a bigger weekly prize, each with its own goal percentage. When your child's test grade meets that day's goal, they'll see a "Reward Earned!" badge on their Home screen.

Can more than one child use the app?

Yes. Each child gets their own profile, their own word lists, and their own progress and rewards, completely separate from any siblings using the same app.

Where is my child's data stored?

Everything is stored securely in your family's own iCloud account. We never see or have access to your data, and it's never shared with anyone else. There are no ads and no data collected for advertising purposes.
